Clean, fully functional Ameritron AL-811H four-tube HF linear amplifier (Serial No. AL-811H-27944).
Full Disclosure & Restoration Process:
I purchased this amplifier out of an estate from a smoker’s environment. Because I cannot stand smoke odors in my own shack, I put this unit through a rigorous 48-hour decontamination and mitigation process:
1. Interior Deep Clean: The entire interior and exterior surfaces were completely and meticulously hand-cleaned using high-purity Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol to strip away any historical residue.
2. Charcoal Odor Mitigation: The amplifier was then placed inside a tightly sealed containment tote with six separate activated charcoal bags, while a continuous fan was run inside the tote for 48 hours straight.
The results are incredible—the smoke odor has been significantly mitigated, leaving an exceptionally clean chassis. You can see the exact mitigation setup in the photo.

To ensure safe transit, all four 811A tubes will be pulled from their sockets, wrapped individually, and safely padded inside the cabinet cavity. The entire amplifier will be heavily double-boxed with thick foam armor surrounding the heavy transformer side of the chassis to prevent drop damage.
